This workshop is designed to train students in Sports Injury Massage. Aligned to unit HLTREM513C, this unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to administer remedial massage treatments for athletes.
Course Objectives: At the end of the course, participants will be able to identify and treat common musculoskeletal injuries and sports injuries, develop a treatment package incorporating packaging of advanced massage techniques and/or massage therapy techniques to treat common sports injuries. Conditions covered may include apophysitis, periosteal contusion, dislocation, osteoarthritis, ligament and muscular injuries. Treatments will include remedial massage techniques, hydrotherapy, heat therapy and cryotherapy.
Pre-requisites: Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice
Who should attend: Massage therapists and health professional that are keen to include additional assessment and remedial massage techniques into their skill set.
