Your privacy is important to the Australasian Academy of Wellness Therapies (AAOWT). We are committed to maintaining the privacy of students, participants, clients and staff in accordance with the Australian National Privacy Principles.

This document details our commitment to maintaining the privacy of your information.

 

COLLECTION
AAOWT will only collect personal information from you that is required to facilitate the efficient provision of Academy services or activities. We collect the information provided to us on enquiry forms, by telephone and via the website. These details may include your name, date of birth, postal address and email address.

When requested information is not provided. it may not be possible for the Academy to communicate as efficiently or provide you with the highest level of service.

 

USE
The Academy uses your personal information under specific circumstances. We ask for only the information necessary under those circumstances.

When using this information we may

  • Contact you to inform of new products or services we are providing
  • Post or email updates to you
  • Supply material in response to a request from you
  • Engage in market research
  • Internally review and improve our products and services

DISCLOSURE
No personal details will be given to other parties without the written consent from the student, participants, clients and staff except where there is a legal requirement for the Academy to do so. Such legal requirements may include providing information to bodies such as the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs or the Australian Tax Office. We may also disclose information when it is believed necessary to prevent or reduce a threat to the health and safety of an individual.

Health related information which is provided in the context of a consultation with staff or a student may be disclosed to other members of staff for the purposes of providing future services.

 

DATA INTEGRITY AND SECURITY
AAOWT works hard to maintain the accuracy, and relevance of personal information we have collected and to protect the security of the data. Information is retained only as long as is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected or to comply with any legal or ethical requirements that apply.

Our online security is protected by industry standard technology and we utilise standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encrypted browsers to process sensitive information. We use 128-bit encryption to protect transmissions over the Internet.

 

ACCESS AND CORRECTION
All students, clients and employees have the right to inspect their own personal information held by the Academy. Upon receipt of a written request and the sighting of corresponding identity documents, We will disclose information about you. In this way we are also able to update and amend inaccurate information.

  • Upon receipt of your written request and enough information to permit us to verify your identity and identify your Personal Information,  we will then be able to disclose to you the Personal Information we hold about you. We will also correct, amend or delete any Personal Informaiton that is inaccurate and notify any third party recipients of the necessary changes.

 

  • If you wish to access or correct your Personal Information, please write to The Human Resources Officer at Suite 13-16 South Gate, 87 Canning Hwy, South Perth, Western Australia, or email to admin@aaowt.edu.au. We do not charge for updating a correction or name removal or suppression requests. Requests to delete Personal Information are subject to any applicable legal and ethical reporting or document retention obligations imposed on The Academy.
