What to do Next?
Introduction:
This workshop is designed to train students in basic muscle testing. Its prime aim is to detect faulty neurology that may be impacting on a muscle’s performance. In addition it looks at trigger points and a selection of orthopedic tests to identify specific information regarding the mechanical function of specific body areas. Students need to have a good knowledge of muscles and nerves.

Course Objectives:
At the end of the course, participants will be able to perform basic muscle testing on wide range of muscles. You will be able to recognize both intrinsic and extrinsic causes of faulty muscle function. You will be able to recognise the main trigger point locations and their effects. You will be able to conduct a selection of orthopedic tests and know when to use them and the information that they convey.
Topics covered:
  • The purpose of additional assessment techniques
  • Theoretical background of Trigger points, muscle testing and nerve impingement
  • Application of assessment techniques to four principle muscles innervated by cervical plexus.
  • Application of assessment techniques to four principle muscles innervated by brachial plexus
  • Application of assessment techniques to four principle muscles innervated by Lumbar plexus
  • Application of assessment techniques to four principle muscles innervated by sacral plexus
  • Application of assessment techniques to the body’s joints
  • Application of special assessment techniques
  • History and the science of muscle testing


** 2 days clinical practice are available for students on this course at our Monthly Sunday Clinic but for those who intend to pursue a qualification in MST, these clinical hours will be counted toward to clinical practice. Clinic hours 9.00am to 3.00pm., Booking is required.
Who Should Attend: Massage therapists and health professional that are keen to include additional assessment techniques into their skill set.
