The Diploma of Remedial Massage is designed to enable the student to perform individual treatments for specific conditions. It encompasses Western philosophies coupled with Oriental & Eastern principles (relating to meridians and pressure points), manual lymphatic drainage and other approaches. Particular attention is paid to the lymphatic and circulatory systems.
As a student studying the Diploma of Remedial Massage, you will be taught how to combine specialised techniques and apply rhythmic pressure over areas which relieve stress, muscular and nervous tension, improve circulation and assist in promoting harmony and balance within the body, mind and spirit of your clients.
This course provides the student with an insight into specialised massage technique and how they can be performed competently and with confidence. Graduate will be able to provide remedial massage treatment to clients with specific needs such as injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care, women and children.
- Full-time/Part-time course and flexible learning with a combination of practical and distance learning units available
- Theory classes and practical classes
- Student clinic which allows students to gain practical experience
- Study requirements of a minimum of 8 hours per week of private study
- Minimum Certificate IV in Massage
- Social maturity and mature presentation are requirements
Entry requirements
To gain entry into this qualification, candidates must demonstrate competence through a recognised training program or recognition process, in the following units of competency from the Certificate IV in Massage:

Elective units may be selected from the Health and /or Community Services and or other relevant Training Packages at Diploma level or higher.
AAOWT reserves the right in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework guidelines, to update and/or alter the units offered to ensure valid and current qualifications.
Student clinic which allows students to gain practical experience is an integral component of training and must be fully completed and verified to gain competency.

Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Massage Therapists (AAMT), Association fo Massage Therapists (AMT) and the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS).
Career Prospects
Graduate will be able to provide remedial massage treatment to clients with specific needs such as injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care, women and children. Practitioners may supervise other massage therapists. Practitioners may be self-employed as independent practitioners or may work within a larger health service.
Students who hold other qualifications with relevant units of competency may apply for Recognised Prior Learning. RPL application must be made on enrolment or at least four weeks before the course begins. Please speak to our Education Manager for further information.
